Women for Europe Co-Founder, Niamh Gallagher, spoke at the Irish Country Women's Association Donegal county meeting last Saturday, September 12th. Seventy women from all over the county attended the meeting to find out about the Lisbon Treaty and how it would affect their lives. The women welcomed Women for Europe's approach of going out around the country talking to women in their own environments and providing information on the issues of concern to them. The main questions raised at the meeting were in relation to the legal guarantees on neutrality, taxation and abortion. Niamh confirmed the legally binding nature of the guarantees and explained that the process of lodging the guarantees with the UN was the same one used for the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.
